5 African-American Designers You Should Know
Fashion Week is almost over. But there's still time to get familiar with some of the most innovative African-American designers around. Here are five designers you should know.
1. Stephen Burrows
Burrows entered the fashion world in 1966 when women’s fashion was heavily structured. He went against the grain and designed sportswear, using stretch fabrics to create a slim silhouette.

2.Tracy Reese
Tracy Reese began her career in fashion in 1984 as an apprentice to many high profile designers. The Tracy Reece collection made its debut in the spring of
1998. Plenty by Tracy Reese, a lower priced bohemian inspired line, was released later the same year. Since then, the Tracy Reese brand has expanded into footwear, hosiery and a home collection.
3. Rachel Roy
Roy began her stint in fashion as an intern for Rocawear. She later launched her own line in 2004, eventually expanding into ready to wear, resort and handbag collections. Roy recently debuted a collection designed in collaboration with Amar’e Stoudemire. A must have for Hollywood starlets, rock stars and stylish businesswomen everywhere.

FALL/WINTER 2011
Tomorrow, September 17, Jordan Brand will release its first 6 Rings colorway of the year in the form of the “Carbon Fiber” colorway. The beloved carbon fiber attribute is seen heavily just above the white midsole and the toe box in black. The midfoot is constructed of a black mesh-like material, while minimal Medium Grey hints, such as the outsole and heel construction, complete this 6 Rings’ upper. 2011 SPRING/SUMMER FASHION
WOMEN
Tail Hems
Tail Hem simply means that the back is longer than the front. It is a very Spring-y look & is one of my favorites.
I would this with some cute sandals during the day & some strappy heels with a clutch at night.
Cargo Jackets
I've always been a fan of the Cargo Jackets & vests.
It's usually pairs nice with just about anything.
A cotton material dress as shown above during the day & some tights & heels
at night can take this vest a long way :)
Trench Dresses
This trench dress is designed by DKNY & would be cute coupled with
closed toe pumps & a clutch.
Comfy
Not too tight this Spring. This is a lot easier for women with curves who ARE NOT
as small as the model above (like me) whereas we don't have to worry about
material bunching up & giving us extra *ahem* baggage lol
MOTORCYCLE CHIC
Leather Jackets have ALWAYS been a pleasure for me to where. . . It's something about the way the lining feels. . .
ANYWAY, Motorcycle Chic is a more couture version of the usually grungy style.
The 2nd style is my absolute favorite!
Wide Legged Pants
Especially in this material is a go for the spring. With a cropped top or a fitted tank top, these
pants make a beautiful day look.
CROPPED TOPS
Speaking of cropped tops, this look is perfect for both day & night
OMG!!!!!!!!!!!
These shoes were worn last week by the lovely Ms. Evelyn on the "Basketball Wives"
reunion. Christian Louboutin did his THANG with these
& Evelyn rocked the hell out of them!
Jumpers & One Pieces
These were in last summer as well. THIS summer they will be madewith
lighter, flowing fabrics as seen above. . . I CAN'T WAIT!
Gladiator sandals
ARE STILL IN AS I PREDICTED
FEATHER EARRINGS
These have been popular for about a year now but are still "all the rave"
Light Organza like material
Word earrings
Were pretty popular this summer. . . Atleast for ME they were lol
Peacock collar
Animal jewelry has become more & more popular over the last 3 years. THIS is one of my favorite necklaces :)
